Matt and Marci were both raised in the Central Valley and, after spending 3 years living out of state in their mid-twenties, they choose to make the Central Valley their home, where they are raising their children and committed to grow Valley Powerhouse Electric.
Matt Whaley
Matt has been a licensed electrician since 2012 and working in the electrical field since 2007. Matt completed his apprenticeship through the Fresno Electrical Joint Apprentice and Training Center under the guidelines of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 100. As a Union electrician, Matt gained increasing experience over the years managing jobs from tenant improvements and strip malls to parking structures and a large high school campus. Matt’s experience in the electrical field includes retail, tenant improvements, DSA inspected school campuses, multi-level parking structures, and OSHPD hospital installations.
Electrical work is a second career for Matt. Prior to being an electrician, Matt spent 8 years in the construction supply industry managing warehousing and logistics. During these years, Matt learned invaluable team building and management skills that he applies at VPE today.
Matt is responsible for everything operations at VPE including job estimating, bidding, contracting, job oversite, hiring, and safety.
Marci Whaley
Marci has worked in business as an accounting professional for more than 20 years. After graduating from CSU Fresno with a degree in business administration – accountancy, Marci worked in public accounting for local firms in Fresno, CA and Tacoma, WA earning her CPA license. After several years in public accounting and several years handling the SEC reporting for a publicly traded company, Marci has spent the last half of her career in a large, diverse organization overseeing all aspects of accounting as well as being a member of the executive management team. Marci’s experience includes real estate investment, construction, farming and food processing accounting, financial and tax reporting, treasury management and finance.
Marci handles the administrative, banking, insurance/bonding, back-office hiring functions, and all accounting duties for VPE.
